Hiking, cycling, golfing, tennis, boccia, Nordic Walking... whatever you are looking for, you have made the right choice spending your holiday at Lake Kaltern. Beside all kinds of water sports (from swimming and canoeing to fishing, wind-surfing and sailing), our extensive cycling and hiking network is one of the fortes in the holiday region around Lake Kaltern.
Swimming in the warmest bathing lake of the Alps – from April to October. Swimming, hiring a pedalo, surfing or canoeing …crowned by a taste of ‘Dolce Vita’ with a glass of Prosecco or a cappuccino. Hide away in some romantic place, enjoy relaxation to the max and dive into a great holiday experience at Lake Kaltern.
Nature offers a variety of perspectives with which to entrance visitors in and around the village of Kaltern. The wonderful Mediterranean landscape invites you to numerous hiking trips, to soft hills, through orchards and vineyards, from castle to castle, through colourful mixed forests and fragrant meadows. Enjoy the heights and depths of this region by climbing and walking through the medium and upper levels of mountain ranges. The views are incredible from the summits and peaks and give you a great and extensive view of our region. We are organising weekly guided hiking trips, as well as Nordic Walking tours. Walking sticks available in-house.
More comfortable is a walk around the lake, a journey of discovery through a biotope, the meditation trail or the path up to Leuchtenburg Castle. Along the Kaltern mountain road, the Old Mendel trail or on a hiking trip to the Rastenbach canyon to the ruins of St. Peter in Altenburg, even the most adventurous will get excited. Those who have extensive experience in hiking and climbing can conquer the peak of the Mendelkamm.
Cycling will be an even more fantastic experience when you go on route during the apple blossom period. Cycling along the trails and through a sea of blossoms can be a fantastic experience. Especially the area around Kaltern is most suitable for cyclists and mountain bike riders. From cycling trails along the Mendelsteig right down to the valley: there are routes of all grades of difficulties. Even race cyclists will enjoy the Reggl mountain tour down to Kohlern near Bozen. Please note – this is one of the longer routes.
A particularly attractive offer for golfers. Schlosshotel Aehrental offers you the possibility to use the 18 hole facility of the Dolomiti Golfclub Sarnonico with the GolfCard at discounted prices.
At the Reggl mountain in Petersberg (1,200 metres above sea level), you will find an 18 hole golf course in the midst of the most beautiful mountain backdrop. Behind the Mendel Pass in Sarnonico, there is another 18 hole course. Lana offers a 9 hole facility surrounded by orchards. All three golf courses can be reached by car within 30 minutes.
